Let's get a little personal--shall we? I have been thinking about including some of my personal work and / or toy design work, once in a while in this blog. I get a lot of inquiries about what my career consists of and maybe showing some of these will inspire someone out there in the blog world :) So let's take a break from printable today and let me show you this cute personal project I did.
My fabulous FRIEND gave me a Munny Doll for my birthday a couple of years ago. Munny Dolls are blank (white) figures that are ready to be decorated my the lucky user! Think of it as a blank 3D canvas. You can check out more about the blank Munny Dolls HERE. I painted mine first with gesso paint (white paint) to give it sort of a rough surface as the figure is quite smooth--I wanted a bit of texture. Then I added lots of details with acrylic paints--some were metallics! Then I used a black sharpie to detail all of the black areas you see. I ended up using color pencils in some areas to add soft shades (eyes, blush and gradients in the clothes). I finally added HAIR! Lots of gorgeous pink, fabulous hair I cut from a cheap $1 wig from the dollar store :) I used hot glue for the hair and the flowers. This was a very relaxing project and I loved how she came out. Her name is Anna.
:)
p.s. I am 7 weeks or so away from the big day!!! We are all very excited for the new arrival of baby #2 :) Can't wait to meet the little guy!

My kids like these blank dolls too (from craft stores), but markers and such tend to smudge. Thanks for the tip on the gesso--and the hair! We already think you're brilliant, Linette, and now my kids think you're totally cool too! Big hugs and good luck with your little one! karen m.
ReplyDeleteOMG I LOVE what youve done with the Munny Doll. You should totally do a collection to sell! One day, when your life settles back down again after your little man arriving. Good luck and congratulations!
